Hualañé
Aquatic
birds or place of ducks
is the Mapuche translation
of the name of this commune,
attractive by its history
that was born of the battle
which they freed Lautaro's
forces against the Spaniards.
Hualañé has a series of
small bath areas and salt
mines. This commune began
as a small indigenous village
with well-known Incan influence,
of which did not continue
their advancement towards
the south. This must have
been due to the fact that
on the other side of the
Mataquito River were the
Promaucaes or inconquerables,
the village similar to those
of the Araucano, who impeded
their advance towards the
south.
